Nicholas Stienstra, MD, is a board-certified internist and rheumatologist specializing in the evaluation of systemic immune disorders with musculoskeletal manifestations. He completed his undergraduate training at the University of Chicago, and his medical degree at New York Medical College. He then completed his internal medicine residency at Boston University Medical Center, where he also had training and led quality improvement projects. He then moved to Portland, Oregon for a rheumatology fellowship at Oregon Health & Science University and the Portland VA. Now he feels very fortunate to be living and caring for patients on the Monterey Peninsula. His interests include educating and treating patients with rheumatologic conditions, as well as developing and promoting strategies to improve health care access and patient-centered high-quality care. In his off time, he loves to spend time with his wife exploring the outdoors, diving and kayaking, cooking, and reading about history.
